VINCI to Acquire EnergoBit
VINCI Energies, a global leader in energy services and information technology, has announced its intention to acquire the EnergoBit group of companies, a leading Romanian provider of energy solutions, as part of its strategic expansion in Central and Eastern Europe.
VINCI Energies has signed an agreement, subject to approval by the relevant authorities, to acquire EnergoBit, a major player in Romania’s energy infrastructure, headquartered in Cluj-Napoca.
Founded in 1990, EnergoBit generated a consolidated turnover of €100 million in 2024, with a team of 825 employees in its eight locations across the country. This acquisition comes at a promising time in Romania, amid major needs for energy transition and infrastructure upgrade. EnergoBit is recognized for its expertise in the engineering and installation of electrical substations, transmission and distribution lines, as well as in grid monitoring and automation. It also has a workshop for assembling transformers and medium-voltage switchgear, which allows it to offer customers customized solutions.
The transaction will extend the reach of the Omexom brand – dedicated to energy infrastructure – in Romania and strengthen VINCI Energies’ position in the country. VINCI Energies has been present in Romania since 2007 and employs 1,500 people.
In 2024, the VINCI Group generated revenues of more than €200 million in Romania, mainly through VINCI Energies (more than €150 million) and VINCI Construction (almost €50 million).
“The acquisition of the EnergoBit group of companies reflects the strategic direction of VINCI Energies in strengthening its position on the Romanian market and supporting the accelerated energy transition in the region. The energy sector in Romania is currently undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the modernization of infrastructure, the development of renewable energy and the digitalization of power grids. Our active involvement in this process is perfectly aligned with VINCI Energies’ long-term vision,” said Eric Devigne, Managing Director of the VINCI Energies Central and Eastern Europe cluster.
The EnergoBit Group, founded in 1990, currently comprises three companies: EnergoBit, EnergoBit Control Systems and ELM Electromontaj Cluj. Of the 825 employees, 270 are engineers, highlighting solid technical expertise and operational capability in the energy sector.
This acquisition marks a significant milestone in VINCI Energies’ commitment to support the energy transition and infrastructure modernization in Romania.
Pál Péter, current President and co-founder of EnergoBit, said on behalf of the three founders: “After more than three decades dedicated to building and consolidating the EnergoBit group as a leading player in energy solutions, we believe that now is the right time to take the company to the next level, and VINCI Energies shares our company culture and values – innovation, technical excellence, and long-term vision. We are honoured to join a world-class group that opens remarkable perspectives for EnergoBit’s evolution. VINCI Energies’ international expertise and solid presence in the energy sector make VINCI Energies the ideal partner to continue our mission and sustain our future development.”
The acquisition agreement between EnergoBit founders Stefan Gadola, Pál Péter, Ioan Socea and representatives of VINCI Energies was signed on July 16, 2025, in Bucharest. The transaction is expected to be finalized in November 2025, following its approval by the Competition Council. By acquiring EnergoBit, VINCI Energies will significantly strengthen its presence on the Romanian market.
Florin POP, CEO of EnergoBit Group, together with the current management team, will continue in the same roles, and the founders will remain in leadership positions after the acquisition is finalized to ensure an efficient transition.
“Our objective is to ensure the company’s continued development and long-term stability. I am confident that the continued presence of the management team will contribute significantly to the success of EnergoBit in the future,” concluded Eric Devigne.
