Nuclearelectrica, Net Profit up 40% in 2025

Nuclearelectrica (SNN) has reported a net profit of RON 2.39 billion in 2025, up 40.4%, according to a report submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

The company generated revenues from electricity sales of RON 5.59 billion, up 20.7%. Starting January 1, 2023, the company is a seller within the Centralized Electricity Procurement Mechanism (“MACEE”), established by GEO No. 153/2022 for the period January 1, 2023 – March 31, 2025, and subsequently extended by GEO No. 6/2025 until June 30, 2025.

The Electricity and Natural Gas Market Operator “OPCOM”, as sole purchaser, pursuant to Articles 2 and 3(2) of Government Emergency Ordinance No. 153/2022, purchases electricity from producers at a price of RON 450/MWh and RON 400/MWh, respectively starting with April 1, 2024, and sells it to buyers at the same price.

In 2025, Nuclearelectrica did not make any sales through MACEE (2024: 5,110,338 MWh, representing 50.16% of the total electricity sold during the period, excluding imbalances).

In 2025, Nuclearelectrica sold all its electricity on the free market (2024: 49.84%), namely 10,446,051 MWh (2024: 5,077,181 MWh). The average selling price of electricity sold by the company on this market in 2025 was RON 531.09/MWh (2024: RON 449.20/MWh), net of Tg.

Nuclearelectrica participates in the balancing market under the participation agreement concluded with Transelectrica and is a member of PRE Ciga Energy, based on the contract concluded with Ciga Energy for the provision of representation services as the party responsible for balancing, for which it has provided a guarantee in the amount of RON 5,100,000, valid until July 11, 2026.

The company produces thermal energy by exploiting the energy capacities of its electricity and thermal energy production units, consisting of two heat exchangers with a total thermal power of 40 Gcal/h and 46.51 MW. It also delivers thermal energy to the local thermal energy distribution company Utilitati Publice Cernavoda, as well as to end-consumers in Cernavoda – economic operators, social and cultural institutions.

Thermal energy sales in 2025 amounted to RON 6,744,889 (2024: RON 5,903,949).

On December 31, 2025, Nuclearelectrica’s shareholders were: The Romanian State, through the Ministry of Energy, which holds 248,850,476 shares, representing 82.4981% of the share capital, and other natural and legal person shareholders, who together hold 52,793,418 shares, representing 17.5019% of the share capital.
